Gene Has Arrived!

Gene arrived in Hampton Roads Sunday.  After a relaxing car ride, he was ready to get into the house and meet his new foster brothers.  How exciting!  Introductions went well and all are getting along like they've always been together.  I think Gene is thrilled to have other pups to play with.  Gene poked around the house and checked out all the beds, the kitchen was thoroughly sniffed over, the fireplace...with that reflective glass door...who is that other puppy in there??  Stairs...those tricky things, took a few times, but as soon as he realized that the rest of the pups were at the top, playing, he just HAD to know what was going on up there, so barreling up (clumsy as it gets), he came.  All the new smells and rooms upstairs!  He was all over the place, sniffing and checking everything out all over again.  Then he saw it...the stuffy!  Unfortunately, said stuffy was the Philly Phanatic, NOT a play stuffy (but who can blame him, it was at "Gene height", staring his right in the eyes, saying "PLAY WITH ME!!").  Poor Gene.  I must applaud him though, he was told "no" and he dropped it immediately.  Good puppy!  For the remainder of the night though, Gene kept coming back to the room to check on Mr. Phanatic...just to be sure no one was changing their minds on the toy.  He never once picked it up again though...made foster mommy VERY proud!

Today being Monday, work and school schedules kicked in this morning.  I got up a little earlier just to be sure Gene could handle the tight time table we worked on.  He aced it.  Out of the crate, straight downstairs, out to potty, back in for breakfast, out again and back to the crate in record time.  Fast learner, this one!

So far, Gene seems to just be a pup that has missed love and attention.  All he wants is to be retired, lie on the best dog bed in the house and get snuggled regularly.  This guy is going to be one loving, dedicated pup to the right home.  He'll melt your heart in no time at all.  He's already got my walls breaking down and he's only been here for 2 days.  If you're looking for a playful sweetie, Gene may just be your guy.
